The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is appointed by the UK Government to inspect independent schools in England which are in membership of the Independent Schools Council (ISC) as well as private further education colleges and British Schools Overseas. The ISI is an independent not-for-profit and mission-driven organisation and assuring systems are in place that safeguard children and promote their wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.
The ISI assures standards across the diverse range of over 1,300 schools that make up the membership of the ISC and also has inspection experience in over 50 countries across five continents. At a time when assurance of education standards is very much in the public domain, we believe we have much to contribute to this debate and have introduced inspection principles focusing on manageability and collaboration as well as promoting empathy while preserving rigour.
The ISI is governed by a Board of Directors with a diverse range of professional backgrounds. The Board has overall responsibility for the organisation, ensuring delivery of our mission and our financial viability. Working with the Executive Team, the Board determines our strategy, monitors the overall organisational performance and promotes the long-term success of the ISI by identifying opportunities to create and preserve value.
We now seek three Directors to join our Board from early 2025 and are particularly interested in candidates who can offer sustained experience and significant expertise in one of the following areas as an:
The ISI is committed to being more representative of the communities that we serve and would therefore particularly welcome interest from those who would increase the diversity of our Board.
If you have a passion for the importance of education and share our ambitions and values, we would be delighted to hear from you.
The ISI is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and the Board expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post.
