The University is now looking to appoint a new Chair of Council. The Chair is responsible for the leadership of Council as the University’s governing body, and, together with the governing body and the President and Vice-Chancellor, is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the University and ensuring the delivery of its key objectives.

Candidates must evidence proven track record of effective senior  leadership at board level in a large, diverse and complex organisation; professional experience of relevant factors in the successful operation of large organisations; experience of chairing meetings and bringing discussions to a satisfactory conclusion; an awareness of the demands of the modern regulatory environment and expectations, so that the need for legitimate scrutiny and accountability is respected and discharged effectively by Council and its committees and sympathy with and commitment to the values, aims and culture of the University of Leicester.
