Director of Marketing and Sales 

ESMT Berlin is an internationally accredited, non-profit private institution of higher education located in Berlin, Germany. Established in 2002 by 25 leading global companies, this international business school offers a comprehensive range of MBA, master’s, and PhD programs, as well as executive education on its Berlin campus and in various global locations. With 45 faculty members representing 19 countries, ESMT educates over 1,000 students from 80 countries and an additional 3,500 executives each year. ESMT works closely together with its founding companies and other industry leaders to develop customized executive education and to provide students with real-world business challenges to solve. With a focus on leadership, innovation, and analytics, ESMT’s diverse faculty publishes top-tier research. As Director of Marketing and Sales you will lead a team of marketing, recruiting, admission and sales experts. You will have direct responsibility for all aspects of promoting our brand, increasing enrollment in our degree and executive education programs and selling relevant programs to business customers. You will partner and align with Program Directors responsible for the individual program offerings and report to ESMT’s Dean of Programs.  

 

Your key responsibilities will include 

 

  • Product and brand narrative: Lead initiatives to refine and amplify ESMT’s product and brand narrative, enhancing the visibility, reputation, and reach of programs locally and globally. Position the school as the top choice for students and corporate partners.
  • Marketing leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that leverage digital and traditional platforms to promote the school's diverse range of programs, ensuring global reach and engagement.
  • Student recruitment and admissions: Spearhead student acquisition strategies utilizing data analytics, partnerships, and digital outreach to increase enrollment in Master, MBA, and executive education programs.  Implement advanced digital marketing techniques, including paid advertising and search engine optimization, to increase online visibility and drive qualified traffic.
  • B2B and B2C sales: Drive B2B sales across the entire portfolio and build long-term relationships with corporations seeking tailored education solutions. Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with companies.
  • Data-driven marketing of degree and executive education programs: Utilize analytics and market data to create tailored marketing campaigns that resonate with target audiences and optimize program enrollments.
  • Marketing trends and innovation: Stay at the forefront of education marketing trends, implementing innovative practices that keep ESMT as a sector leader.
  • Market insight and market position: Conduct market research to understand competitive positioning and identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.
  • Digital advertising and SEO strategies: Implement advanced digital marketing techniques, including paid advertising and search engine optimization, to increase online visibility and drive qualified traffic.
  • Competitive analysis and benchmarking: Continuously monitor competitors' activities and benchmark marketing efforts to ensure ESMT remains ahead of market trends.
  • Team leadership: Lead and inspire a cross-functional team responsible for content creation, lead generation, recruitment, admissions, and corporate sales, ensuring strategic alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Lifelong learning and alumni sales: Promote executive education and lifelong learning opportunities to alumni, encouraging continued professional development and fostering ongoing relationships.

 

You are qualified for this position, because you have

  • Proven experience in senior marketing or sales leadership roles, ideally within higher education or related service industries. 
  • A deep understanding of higher education trends, student recruitment strategies, and B2B partnership development. 
  • Expertise in digital marketing, lead generation, and data-driven customer acquisition strategies. 
  • A strong record of building and sustaining corporate partnerships. 
  • Strong analytical skills, with a focus on using data for strategic decision-making. 
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities with a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams. A hands-on mentality, adaptability, and resilience.
