Director of Innovation, NovaUCD

University College Dublin (UCD) is one of Europe’s leading research-intensive universities. The University is the national leader in research publication volume, postgraduates and Horizon Europe funding. Alongside the broader University research environment, NovaUCD is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art incubation facility for knowledge-intensive companies. NovaUCD provides comprehensive business supports for client companies. This comprises advice, seminars and workshops as well as facilitated access to the NovaUCD network of researchers, business leaders, investors and programmes.  

UCD now seeks to appoint a Director of Innovation who will drive innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialisation of research outputs within the University and provide strategic leadership to further develop NovaUCD.   

Reporting to the Vice-President for Research, Innovation and Impact, the Director of Innovation will enhance UCD’s status as a leading university in innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer. The Director will build and sustain partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders such as researchers, faculty, government departments, state agencies, and industry to ensure UCD contributes maximally to Ireland’s national innovation ecosystem. They will also oversee the management of services and programmes provided by NovaUCD including knowledge and technology transfer, IP, and campus company and enterprise development programmes. The successful individual will bring a strong track record of strategic senior leadership experience in a third level institution or similar large organisation and evidence of innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialisation of research outputs. In addition, they will have demonstrable experience developing and sustaining relationships with stakeholders across the higher education, public and private sectors.
