York House School was founded by seven fearless women who envisioned a better, bolder future for girls’ education. They broke boundaries and thought bigger so that every young woman could be empowered to shape the future they wanted to see. Nearly a century later, their story, spark and spirit are embedded in our DNA as a vibrant community of 690 girls from Junior Kindergarten (JK) to Grade 12. And now, our sights are set on writing the next chapter.
This is a pivotal moment to join York House School. With the arrival of Deryn Lavell as our Head of School in 2022, and the launch of our new strategic plan ‘Spark’ earlier this year, we are on an exciting journey to redefine academic excellence. This newly created role will lead the charge in our efforts to create future ready students able to move seamlessly between classroom and community. Our new Dean of Academic Excellence will have strategic oversight of transformative educational programs from Junior Kindergarten (JK) to Grade 12 and will be a key member of our Leadership Team. For individuals aspiring to Head of School positions, this role offers an amazing opportunity to develop as a leader in a highly successful, dynamic organization at an extraordinary moment in its evolution.
We seek a bold, creative, and confident leader and a fierce advocate for girls’ education. Our new Dean of Academic Excellence will be a natural collaborator with the ability to bring inspiration and excitement to leadership team colleagues, and to empower our talented faculty. The successful candidate will be a strong team player with a minimum of five years educational leadership experience and a proven track record as an exemplary teacher. High levels of empathy and emotional intelligence are essential, as is a sense of curiosity and fun.
