Are you passionate about inspiring breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and about achieving immediate and lasting change in their lives?

Save the Children believes every child deserves a future. In the UK and around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure children’s unique needs are met and their voices are heard. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach. We do whatever it takes for children – every day and in times of crisis – transforming their lives and the future we share.

As we move towards our centenary, we are seeking an Executive Director of Global Programmes to lead on expanding the reach, quality and impact of our programmes globally and in the UK. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will sit on the Executive Leadership Team and therefore play an active leadership role in a complex global organisation. You will set a strategic direction for the Global Programmes division as well as play a role in informing and influencing the priorities of major donors. You will provide intellectual leadership, strategy development, planning and innovation across the Save the Children movement, and work with others to strengthen our humanitarian capabilities.

This role offers a unique opportunity for someone with a passion to make a difference in the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children. You will be a collaborative and catalytic leader with a sophisticated understanding of the current global trends in the international development landscape, social change and experience of developing and implementing programming and emergency responses globally. You will have a strong track record of strategic and change leadership as well as experience of managing a complex and diverse team, and have the ability to influence without structural authority. In addition, you have the personal presence, advocacy and influencing skills to inspire and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, with the proven ability to think and act strategically and mobilise support for a vision.

The role will be based in London and the salary is competitive with the market rate and commensurate with the seniority of the appointment.
