We believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity) stops at nothing to help give seriously ill children the best chance and best childhoods possible. Our principal aim has always been to support the hospital, whenever and however it needs our support the most. We do this in order to meet our purpose of transforming the lives of seriously ill children through research, care and advocacy.

We are looking for a Chair who is warm, approachable, and collaborative, with the emotional intelligence to build strong relationships and trust among stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring diplomacy, gravitas, commercial acumen and intellectual rigour to lead decisively, balancing strategic priorities with the life saving work of the hospital. They will possess a forward-thinking mindset, complemented by innovative problem-solving skills and an understanding of the complexities of fundraising. They will bring experience of governance, leading large and complex organisations.

Their leadership style should foster mutual respect and a shared vision, enabling seamless collaboration between the charity and hospital leadership. This individual will inspire confidence while ensuring progress towards unified goals, helping to drive the charity’s mission to transform the lives of seriously ill children and their families.

The Chair is expected to be highly engaged with the charity, with a commitment of approximately three days per month. The role requires flexibility, visibility, and a willingness to attend events, particularly in London, to build relationships and represent the charity.

To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter, detailing how you fulfil the role description and personal specification. The deadline for applications is 27th January 2025.

This is a voluntary role and is unremunerated. Reasonable expenses will be covered.

Perrett Laver will conduct an executive search process in parallel with the public advertisement of the role. Longlisted candidates will be invited to interview with Perrett Laver in early February and the Selection Panel will subsequently meet to decide upon a final shortlist for the post in mid-February following which, formal interviews with GOSH Charity will take place early March with the aim of inviting the successful candidate to attend the March board meeting.

If you require any reasonable adjustments to assist you in the selection process, please advise us of these so that we can make appropriate arrangements.
