The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) now invites applications and nominations of distinguished scholars for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Education.

The CUHK Faculty of Education (http://www.fed.cuhk.edu.hk) was Hong Kong’s first faculty of education, and it has been a leading centre for teacher training in Hong Kong. It seeks to empower future education leaders with the latest in theory and practice, to innovate tools and pedagogies to facilitate learning, and to transform education to meet challenges in a rapidly changing society. The Faculty has about 140 full-time teaching and research staff, over 690 undergraduate and 1,900 postgraduate students across its 4 Departments and 1 Unit: Departments of Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration and Policy, Educational Psychology, Sports Science and Physical Education, and Physical Education Unit.
In this search for the next Dean of the Faculty of Education, CUHK is seeking to identify a visionary leader, leveraging the Faculty’s academic strengths and deep networks among sector leaders in Hong Kong and Greater China, to address local and regional challenges in education.
The Role
The Faculty Dean will be one of members of the University senior management team, reporting to the University Council via the Vice-Chancellor/President or the Provost. As the academic and executive head of the Faculty, the Faculty Dean will lead the Departments/ Unit, manage staff and resources and student matters, and ensure quality assurance in alignment with the University’s strategic goals. In addition to overseeing teaching and learning, the Faculty Dean will drive research and innovation, foster international collaborations, and build strong relationships with alumni, donors, and school partners.
Candidates should have an excellent academic standing appropriate for appointment at the level of a full Professor in the Faculty. They should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of research and educational advancements across relevant fields, along with a broad spectrum of intellectual interests represented in the Faculty. Additionally, they should have a flair for integrating technology (e.g. AI) into teaching and learning. They should exhibit proven academic leadership and strategic management abilities within higher education institutions, a visionary approach to advancing the Faculty’s mission and global reputation, and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Remuneration and benefit package for the post will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
