The General Sir John Monash Foundation was established in 2001 with a bold mission to encourage academic excellence of our nation’s brightest individuals, foster the growth of their leadership qualities and harness their talents to build Australia’s capabilities for the future. To date, the Foundation has awarded 282 scholarships to citizens who have gone on to study in the fields of health and medicine, engineering, science, fine arts, education, law, political theory, business, entrepreneurship and much more.
The Board is now seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the Foundation as it continues to grow and develop to become one of the world’s most successful and high-profile academic scholarship and leadership programs. The appointee will have the vision, energy, and skills to build on the Foundation’s recent successes and achieve the Board’s objectives of the Foundation of being a world leading and self-supporting postgraduate scholarship and leadership organisation.
The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible to the Board for further raising the Foundation's profile, for building long-lasting partnerships with existing and new sponsors, partners, and philanthropists, for engaging with and nurturing past and present scholars, and for ensuring that the processes to select scholars are designed to identify those who seek to advance society.
The Chief Executive Officer will need to demonstrate a passion for identifying and developing talent and understand the Higher Education sector. The Chief Executive Officer will have detailed knowledge and experience of fundraising and alumni engagement, along with the ability to be the Foundation's compelling public advocate. The ability to foster productive relationships in the corporate sector and with government is a vitally important skill. The candidate will be an experienced executive, familiar with the governance and operational oversight of a small organisation and in working with, and reporting to, Boards and Committees.
