Dedicated to driving climate-focused philanthropy and advocacy in Asia.
Asia has a pressing need to intensify action in response to climate change, which threatens to cause economic losses of up to USD 57 billion and increase the population living in poverty to 200 million by 2040. Significant wealth growth in the region offers a unique opportunity for Asian philanthropists to catalyse climate action as climate giving has not kept pace – currently 2% of global philanthropic funding goes towards climate, with only 12% of that going to Asia (WEF, 2023). The Asia Climate Philanthropy Advisory will be the first of its kind in the region dedicated to gravitating Asian philanthropists towards climate by empowering them to make strategic, impactful contributions.
Headquartered in Singapore and incubated by several leading philanthropists and climate foundations in Asia and around the world, the Advisory is uniquely positioned to support ultra-high-net-worth individuals by providing bespoke advisory support, curated local climate knowledge, carefully vetted giving opportunities, and access to a diverse network of climate-focused experts, peers and partners. The Advisory aims to raise a significant amount of philanthropic funding in the next 5 years to catalyse Asia-led climate solutions at speed and scale.
The Asia Climate Philanthropy Advisory is now seeking a seasoned, outstanding individual to join as its Director of Climate (Strategy and Communications) and play a vital role in translating climate knowledge into actionable strategies that empower philanthropists to engage, advocate for and give to climate solutions. Reporting to the Inaugural Chief Executive Officer, the Director will manage the sourcing of trusted, high-impact climate solutions that are regionally and locally grounded, transformative and scalable, across mitigation, adaptation and resilience. The Director will manage relationships across diverse stakeholders, including philanthropy, civil society, policymakers, research and the private sector, identifying new partnerships and coalitions across sectors. Sensitive to the varied contexts and cultures in Asia, the Director will define opportunities for intersectional engagement across areas such as health, gender, poverty and technology.
The ideal candidate will bring strategic vision, regional experience and extensive networks in the climate-related sectors. The Director will have a track record of operating in regional climate networks and an ability to activate or tap into Asia-based experts and movement leaders from across the climate and environmental justice communities. The successful candidate will bring deep insight on emerging opportunities in the sector, excellent communication and people skills, as well as a demonstrated enthusiasm and optimism towards advocating the urgency of climate action and solutions that are innovative and impactful.
If you are excited by the prospect of translating specialist knowledge and expertise into impactful solutions to the climate crisis in Asia, then the Asian Climate Philanthropy Advisory wants to hear from you.
To apply, please submit an up-to-date CV along with a cover letter detailing your motivation and experiences relevant to the role, via the Apply button below.
The deadline for applications is Friday 25th April 2025 at 12:00PM Singapore Time.
The location of the role can be Singapore or a reasonable location in Asia towards fulfilling requirements in partnership-building and engagement within Asia’s climate sector. International travel will be necessary.
The salary is commensurate with the seniority of the appointment. Longlisted candidates will be invited to first conversations in mid-May and the Selection Panel will subsequently meet to decide upon a shortlist for the post, following which interviews with the Asia Climate Philanthropy Advisory will take place thereafter.
