A professional, degree-granting, interdisciplinary school within the Faculty of Arts & Science, the Munk School is an internationally recognized leader in contributing innovative ideas to help solve major issues facing the global community. The School produces leading edge research and thinking that shapes action in the world and educates students to have broad, multi‐disciplinary perspectives to become leaders in addressing public issues in Canada, cross‐nationally and globally. The School also engages with other leading research institutions, with communities, and with decision makers within the public, private and not‐for‐profit sectors in Canada and worldwide. The School is the home of world-renowned researchers and more than 40 academic centres, labs and programs. The Munk School houses a range of professional programs, including the world-class Masters of Global Affairs (MGA) and Masters of Public Policy (MPP) programs, various dual degree Masters programs with leading international universities, and specialized undergraduate program offerings such as Peace, Conflict, and Justice, and Munk One, a first-year foundational program with a focus on global problem-solving.

Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Science, the Director provides leadership to the School’s teaching, research, and public missions, as well as overseeing its strategic direction, budget, and administration. As the School’s academic leader, the Director supports and works with distinguished faculty to enhance its research, teaching, and impact. The Director is also the external face of the School and will promote the School and its capabilities to new and existing networks of governments, universities, corporations, foundations, and non-governmental organizations. The successful candidate will be an institution-builder with outstanding academic achievements and an established track record of success in administration, external relations, advancement, and inclusive team-building, supporting excellence in research and teaching, and engaging with international and national partners. The successful candidate must be eligible for a tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at the University of Toronto.
