One of the UK’s leading independent day schools, Magdalen College School (MCS) has an enviable national reputation for exceptional academic achievement and sporting, musical and artistic success. Situated in the centre of Oxford, MCS is a lively and distinctive school of 900 pupils aged 7 to 18.

The Master, Helen Pike, and the newly appointed Bursar Jason Clarke, who has just joined the School from the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama, seek an energetic and high performing Head of Finance to oversee the School’s finances ensuring they support its educational aims, and to act as de-facto Deputy Bursar within the growing Bursarial team.

For an ambitious and able finance professional, the post offers an exciting opportunity to develop and further professionalise the finance function whilst collaborating closely with key members of the senior leadership team in shaping the future of this dynamic school.

The successful candidate will be an experienced financial leader with high levels of commercial acumen as well as strong organisational abilities. Highly motivated, energetic and driven, he or she will have experience of leading small teams, a strong intellect and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. A commitment to the ethos and values of MCS is essential.
