At UNSW, we aspire to be a global leader in discovery, innovation, impact, education and thought leadership. Currently ranked 45th in the world (QS), we believe that we can make an enormous difference to the lives of people in Australia and around the world. This ambition is reflected in our 2025 Strategy, which identifies academic excellence, a passion for social engagement, and a commitment to global impact as our strategic priorities.
Our Faculty of Science (UNSW Science) is one of the largest and most complex faculties of UNSW Sydney. A key strategic investment for UNSW Science is the development of The Science for Impact Centre, which will have responsibility for enhancing the capacity of staff and students in UNSW Science to generate positive environmental, economic and social impact. The Centre will work with new and existing partners, across faculties and divisions at UNSW, contributing to UNSW Science’s financial sustainability through research grants, and the development and delivery of education programs and tools/ guides/ resources. This will be done in conjunction with the Centre for Social Impact (CSI), a national research and education centre dedicated to catalysing social change for a better world.
An outstanding opportunity exists for an exceptional, purpose-driven, and passionate leader who wants to make a real difference as the Science for Impact Director. The Science for Impact Director will take a lead role in establishing a science for impact arm within the UNSW node of the Centre for Social Impact, in line with UNSW Science’s strategic priorities. The role presents a unique opportunity to drive knowledge exchange and work closely with industry and other partners to generate positive social impact.
To be successful in this mission you will be an experienced scholar or policy practitioner in Science or an appropriate discipline. Proven ability to engage with the government, for-profit, and not-for-profit sectors will be essential, along with the vision and capacity to contribute to knowledge exchange for social progress.
