The Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology seeks to appoint a new Professor to lead the section of Media Technology in Copenhagen. The section consists of approximately 60 staff members. The position is open for appointment from March 1st, 2019 or soon hereafter. The Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology has as its goal the development of an innovative cluster of engineering-based environments for education and research which integrate creativity, engineering and technology within the disciplines of architecture, urban design, industrial design, digital design and interactive media. The department is a leading research and educational environment in Denmark that addresses the challenge of the interplay between creativity and technology, and develops new areas in research and education directed towards the end-user.

The position requires research qualifications at Doctor level within Media Technology. 

The successful appointee will be expected to evidence:

  • a PhD in a relevant field;
  • an international reputation for excellence in research, demonstrated through an outstanding publication record, an established record of attracting external funding, and engagement in knowledge-transfer activities such as with industry;
  • demonstrable experience with innovative teaching, and a willingness to learn about Problem Based Learning;
  • a broad and relevant international network, with an ability to stimulate the funding portfolio and further strengthen the international position of Aalborg University in the field of Media Technology;
  • a record of accomplishment in academic leadership and management and experience in building collaborations among disciplines;
  • an ability to represent and promote the section to public authorities, private organisations, stakeholders and collaborating partners both nationally and on the global-stage;
  • excellent communicative, collaborative and organisational skills;
  • good management skills: she/he will be active, decisive, transparent, charismatic and a good communicator.

Subsequent to the deadline for full applications of 11th October 2018, shortlisting will be applied. This means that the Head of Department supported by the Chair of the Assessment Committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.  Applicants may subsequently be invited to an interview.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Agreement
Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State. Employment as Professor is in accordance with a classified position on scale 37. In addition, a pensionable increment will be given. It is possible to negotiate for a qualifications-based supplement and a function-based supplement as Deputy Head of Department.
